Many tandem instructors appreciate the capability to collapse the slider after openings. This has been proven to drastically reduce wear on the lines, links, and risers, that would otherwise result from a slider flapping in the wind.

Even more than sport sliders, tandem sliders take a beating on every deployment, leading to significant damage patterns. The tandem sliders use a heavier, more durable tape along the edges. In addition, extra layers are added in typical wear areas. The design is targeted at increasing service life with decreased need for repairs.
